In a thrilling turn of events, the transfer portal has once again proven its ability to shake up the college football landscape. Notre Dame has not only secured one, but two former Ohio State wide receivers, and the story behind these moves is an intriguing one.
Imagine the excitement when Mylan Graham, ranked as the 105th overall player and 24th best wide receiver by the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking, committed to play for the Irish in 2026. This news followed closely on the heels of fellow former Buckeye, Quincy Porter, also choosing Notre Dame. But here's where it gets controversial: Graham's journey to South Bend was not a straightforward one.
Graham, a highly touted recruit from New Haven, Indiana, had previously visited Notre Dame three times during his high school years. However, despite the Irish offering him a scholarship, he ultimately chose Ohio State, a powerhouse known for its wide receiver production. Fast forward a few years, and Graham is back in the transfer portal, with Notre Dame seizing the opportunity to bring him home.
"It's a fascinating dynamic," says On3's Steve Wiltfong. "The transfer portal often connects teams with players they might have missed during the initial recruitment process. In Graham's case, Notre Dame is getting a player they previously offered, but now with added experience and a fresh start."
And this is the part most people miss: Graham's time at Ohio State was more about potential than actual game-time production. In two seasons, he had just 6 catches for 93 yards in regular-season action. But with Notre Dame, the focus is on the future and the promise of developing young talent. The Irish coaching staff sees Graham as a key piece in their wide receiver puzzle.

So, is this a true homecoming for Graham? Perhaps not in the traditional sense, but it's certainly a welcome return. And with his impressive high school stats - 112 catches, 2,062 yards, and 21 touchdowns - Graham has the potential to make a significant impact for the Irish.
